Awful, Life-size Edward Hopper Diner Comes to the Flatiron

Call it public art, or a publicity stunt, but the Whitney has installed a life-size version of Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks in the Flatiron building’s prow. It’s part of the Whitney’s current Hopper exhibition, Hopper Drawing. Not only do you get to glimpse at the diners, you get to stare at big vinyl letters that read “Sprint” and “Art.” We’re telling you about this because we’re sure there’ll be plenty of onlookers gazing into the “diner,” blocking foot traffic. It runs through October 6th.
