Introducing Dream Exhibitions: An Interview Series on Wished-for Art

by Corinna Kirsch on November 5, 2013 Dream Exhibitions

Dream Exhibitions is a new weekly series that asks artists, writers, curators, and other creative types what exhibition they’d like to curate or go see, regardless of time, money, or space. Each week, we’ll publish three to five new submissions—our first post’s coming out this afternoon. Everyone’s invited, so dream a big dream, and send it our way. Exhibitions exist that’re better than anything we’ve ever seen. The problem: They’re still in the idea stage, nestled high up in the brains of artists, curators, writers, and all sorts of creative types. The easy solution: Ask everyone about their dream exhibition—the art exhibition they’d want to organize or see take place, regardless of limits like space, time, or money. It could be an exhibition collecting butter knives used to kill historical figures over the last 400 years. It could be the first historical survey to show similarities between the Zero Group and Land artists (called Ground Zero, perhaps). It could be an underwater exhibition, buried deep for scuba divers, fish, and the lost residents of Atlantis. It doesn’t matter what it is, so long as you’re thinking and dreaming outside the white cube.
