I’m wary about blurbing opportunities. The demand so far outweighs the supply, that, for emerging artists, the individual residency/show/grant slot often seems not worth bothering with the flaming hoops.
But LUMEN may be different, simply by virtue of its size; it’s a six-hour performance/video/installation festival which has in the past invited 60-odd emerging and mid-career artists into repurposed spaces (like snow-salt piles, or an empty swimming pool). If your work is a tough sell in a commercial setting, then that’s even better, since it seems to attract site specificity, physical endurance, and experimental film techniques. It also attracts thousands of visitors and the art press. The application is totally easy, the deadline is Friday, February 21st.
