by Art Fag City on February 4, 2008

Newsgrist reminded us over the weekend that since no one is digging up the Jetty, there’s no reason to act as though it is.  In the event that there’s been any misunderstanding, no one here said the monumental earth work will surely sink into a lake as a result of the oil drilling — we […]

This week: a sit-out for Ai Weiwei, Andres Serrano finally gets a break (inflicted with a hammer), and emerging critic Julia Halperin tries to figure out what “emerging” means. Also, lots of talk about criticism: Tyler Green crowdsources it, Robert Storr describes it as bottom-feeding, and Roberta Smith gives us a vintage review of Serra at the Met that makes us wonder what’s so bad about it after all. Plus, one more link to show you the internet is full of racists.

greg.org: the making of: So How’s That Spiral Jetty Doin’? “Even under Michael Govan’s high profile leadership, Dia has always felt like a virtual organization, an instantiation of the whims of whatever deep-pocketed funder was around at the moment. The kinds of political and coalition-related imperatives that Tyler discusses–and on which the Jetty’s very survival […]
