- Linda Yablonsky reports that Jeffrey Deitch reopened his space last week and didn’t bother to show up for the opening. Apparently nobody else did either—Yablonsky described attendance as “weirdly sparse”. - Is Will Ryman about to sell off a bunch of work at auction? Two major online auction houses, Artsy and artnet News, have published glowing reports about his new terrible show at Paul Kasmin this week. In one installation, he’s cast one figure in twelve different materials (oooOOooh), in another he’s created a sculptural version of the 2011 picture depicting President Barack Obama and members of his national security team watching the raid of al-Qaeda head Osama bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. - When new media curator Domenico Quaranta doesn’t know the answer to a question, he just makes shit up. And now some of those inaccuracies will be recorded forever in an interview published in the new book, No Internet, No Art. For example, he could have tried to contact artists Kevin Bewersdorf and Guthrie Lonergan to ask them why they slowed their artistic production, rather then guessing that they did so because “their practice was, like it or not, bringing them straight into the gallery.” I’ve never heard either one of them say that. - Claire Voon casts a critical eye on Tree of Codes, a modern dance production and collaboration between Wayne McGregor, the award-winning British choreographer; Danish-Icelandic visual artist and light wizard Olafur Eliasson; and electronic music producer Jamie.
