E! Developing a Scripted Art Gallery Show

Work of Art producers may have found many art worlders to be unwilling participants in their doomed reality shows, but Hollywood hasn’t given up on us yet. E! has now announced it will launch an hour long scripted show called Gallerina, according Hollywood Deadline. The show will center on a young woman who seeks to rise to the top of Bettencourt Gallery in LA, a prestigious new gallery at the center of the art world.

Tuesday Links! The Gallery Girls Edition

The New Yorker pans Gallery Girls for not being as good as Lena Dunham’s Girls. [The New Yorker]
We watched the Gallery Girls season premiere last night. So did the rest of the art world. Chloe Wyma, like Blake Gopnik, points out that so far, there’s been very little mention of actual art or artists, and a whole lot of focus on class warfare with the show’s “Jets-Sharks/Brooklyn-UES thing.” [ARTINFO]

On our site, we’ve been writing about Gallery Girls for the past few weeks. Paddy Johnson wrote about the series’s launch and Ben Macaulay recapped the first episode. At The L Magazine, Whitney Kimball’s interview series with real-life gallery girls has entered its second week; Will Brand summed up Gallery Girls as a “show about deeply flawed people tearing each other apart for no good reason”; and Corinna Kirsch wrote about why Magical Elves wanted her on the show.
