Did Russia’s borderline-sociopathic president Vladimir Putin order cyber attacks that influenced the terrible, terrible American election? Probably. (Remember that time the pro-Putin cyber troll army tried to frame a New York Times journalist as a Nazi for investigating their bizarre internet schemes?)

But one thing is for certain: the Tumblr Anthropocene Man has some killer Putin memes. We’re imagining this is pretty much what the Kremlin looks like right now, as they celebrate the complete meltdown of our republic:

What is going on in this video of a giant puppet’s detached genitalia dancing with children and spraying audience members with pee? Apparently, this a piece entitled “Everybody” by the Australian collective [Snuff Puppets].

Copyright is not the same as public domain. “Instagram photos are not in the public domain. The public domain applies to works over which no copyright exists. The ease with which something can be copied has nothing to do with whether it is in the public domain. The fact that 32 people are viewing a single post is brought up, but without saying if that’s how many people are viewing a post at a single second, minute, or hour. [Gawker]

Friday Links: Death on the Internet

David Greg Harth is one of those performance artists who asks people to do one thing, involving him, repeatedly. You can buy him a hamburger. You can write about him. You can have your picture taken with him at a photo booth. This last project is a futile attempt to get his picture taken with everyone he knows and doesn’t know in an old-school photo booth. I got my picture taken with him this week, but apparently one of the rules of participation is that you have to link to it. *Eyeroll*. [Every Person]

Russia will be opening its first-ever “library dedicated to contemporary art in Russia” at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow. (Really, they didn’t have one yet!) The collection currently comprises about 15,000 items. As a comparison, the Museum of Modern Art in New York’s library holds over 300,000 books about 70,000 artists. [e-flux]

Amazon Art Customer Reviews are Hysterical

It’s only been a week since Amazon launched its new fine arts category, but the customer reviews are already pouring in. Naturally, we immediately took to combing the site for the best of them. Some of the juiciest comments have already been removed from the site, but luckily we were able to snag a lot them before they disappeared. Hoo-boy, did we ever find some good ones!
